Electricity
From 1st July2007 the energy market was completely liberalised: that means that all end users can choose their own supplier in the free market as laid down in the Decree-Law n.73/07 containing urgent measures for the adoption of Community Regulations as regards liberalisation of the electricity market.
On the basis of this Decree, the Authority for Electricity and Gas Energy (AEEG)has arranged initiatives and instruments, to guarantee a system of protection for customers that have not yet selected a supplier.
In particular, domestic customers are guaranteed the supply of energy at prices governed by “greater protection” as established by AEEG.
Thanks to the liberalisation of sales activities of electrical energy, customers can choose freely from which supplier and at what conditions, they can buy electricity.
