Waste to energy plant at Acerra
The Acerra plant is among the most important in Europe and is able to dispose of six hundred thousand tons per year of pre-treated municipal waste, turning them into about 600 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to supply 200 thousand households.
The site of the waste to energy plant lies in the municipality of Acerra and the incinerator plant covers a surface area of about nine hectares.
The plant consists of three independent lines of 27 t / h of waste, each of which has the sections:
- Thermal (waste to energy line with steam production)
- smoke purification
The waste to energy plant was built with advanced technology that allows emission values exceeding less than 50% of the limits set by European Directives.
The waste collected in the area, is transferred to the Centre after having been selected and treated in the Caivano plant.
