Global CompactGlobal Compact

A2A has willingly signed up to Global Compact, an initiative promoted by the UN to foster the corporate citizenship culture, which encourages companies from all over the world to create a sustainable economic, social and environmental framework capable of ensuring everyone the opportunity to share in the benefits.

The A2A group observes and promotes the universal principles of the four areas in which Global Compact is involved:

Human rights: A2A acts in full compliance with the regulations in force in the European Union and in the countries in which its employees operate (Italy, Spain, England and Montenegro). In 2015 the Group was not involved in situations that could have represented possible violations of the human rights of employees, customers or national and local communities; legal actions have not been brought against it for this type of infringement nor has it been in any way involved in child or forced labour incidents. In relation to respect for human rights in the supply chain, it should be noted that only 0.1% of the value of the orders made in 2015 involved non-EU suppliers, mainly operating in countries where fundamental human rights are respected (Switzerland, USA, Luxembourg and San Marino).

Employment rights: A2A ensures its employees all workplace rights: collective bargaining, freedom of association, equal opportunities, health and safety policies (for more information on these topics refer to “Human Capital” section).

Environment: Minimizing the environmental impact of its activities is one of A2A's main goals, which is also emphasized in the Group’s Quality, Environment and Safety Policy. This Policy concerns all important environmental aspects that affect and involve A2A, such as: the efficient use of resources, the containment of emissions and the impacts of activities on biodiversity and the landscape, the fight against climate change, sustainable waste management (the activities performed and the Group's 2015 performances in this area are reported in “Natural Capital” section)

Fight against corruption: A2A has adopted the organization, management and control Model pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/01, which extends to all companies of the Group (the model application methods are described in “Governance Tools”.

In 2015 A2A actively participated in the "Reporting", "Human Rights" and sustainable supply chain working groups launched by the Italian Global Compact network
