Milan, 19 December 2019 - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a EUR 150 million loan agreement with A2A, based on 36 months availability period and to be used in tranches with a 15-year maturity. The loan is aiming at financing the expansion and development of smart networks in the city of Milan, Brescia and the latter province, enabling the electrification and the energy transition.
The loan agreement contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9 (Industry innovation and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities) and 13 (Climate action), improving service quality and the network's resilience. The investment project will generate an estimated saving of 33 kt of CO2 per year, confirming A2A's ongoing commitment to support a responsible and sustainable development of the territories in which it operates.
This loan agreement represents a further consolidation of the relationship between A2A Group and EIB and it is in line with A2A’s strategic and sustainability plans; it is coherent with the group financial strategy aimed at improving flexibility and the average debt maturity as well as efficiently diversifying financing sources.
